Banned.
Former Springboks fly-half Elton Jantjies has been banned from rugby for four years after he tested positive for banned substances.
The 33-year-old playmaker, who has 46 caps for South Africa, tested positive for Clenbuterol, an illegal steroid that is commonly used by bodybuilders to cut weight and help build muscle mass.
Jantjies was handed a four-year sanction by the SA Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) in August last year and despite claiming he will appeal to prove his innocence, the SAIDS have confirmed that he has not exercised his right to have his case heard before an Independent Doping Hearing Panel (IDHP).
The ban will likely bring an end to the career of the playmaker who has represented the likes of the Lions and the Stormers, as well as several Japanese and French clubs.
