Munster fans woke up this morning to a shock report regarding their Springboks lock RG Snyman and his next destination.
Snyman is set to leave Munster at the end of the season when his contract expires and it appeared that a deal had been done for him to link up with former coach Johann van Graan and join Bath in the English Premiership.
But it now appears while he will be linking up with one of his former coaches, it won’t be at Bath, with the Irish Times reporting that Snyman is set to link up with former Springboks head coach Jacques Nienaber and join Munster’s biggest rivals, Leinster.
Ronan O’Gara was asked about the potential move this morning on Off The Ball and he was stunned,
“It’s massive. Jeez, I was checking to see what date it was and it’s not April Fool’s [Day] you know,” O’Gara said.
“I never expected it. I thought a deal was done for him to leave and go to Bath. Assuming it goes through, it’s huge, huge news.”
Former Munster flanker Alan Quinlan was also shocked by the news and called a fit and firing Snyman one of the very best second rows in the world.
