Trial.
Olympic Sevens star Zac Ward has landed himself a trial with an Irish province after an impressive showing in Paris this summer.
While it didn’t quite work out for Ireland, who were controversially defeated by finalists Fiji in the quarters, Ward impressed throughout and looked like a real talent, scoring four tries.
He was also named Men’s 7’s Player’s Player of the Year at the Rugby Players Ireland awards this year and his form has been rewarded with the Ballynahinch man being offered a trial with Ulster Rugby.
Ulster Rugby’s Head of Rugby Operations and Recruitment Bryn Cunningham said:
“It’s great to be welcoming Zac into the squad, as we ramp up preparations for the new season.
“Zac is coming off the back of a successful period playing with the national Sevens set-up, and we feel this is a good opportunity for him to bring his skills and qualities into the group in the weeks ahead.”
