Prolific.
Ronan O’Gara feels that despite Ireland’s incredible success over the last 12 months or so and their strength-in-depth in the back three – Simon Zebo should be in the current squad, or at least the Rugby World Cup squad.
Zebo has been overlooked by Schmidt since making the move to France with Racing 92, but the former Munster man has been in superb form over in France and is scoring tries for fun this season.
O’Gara says despite the fact that Ireland have guys like Jordan Larmour, Andrew Conway, Will Addison and Joey Carbery unable to get into the starting line-up, Zebo is better than all of those options because of his innate nature to get points.
“Attacking wise I think he offers something” O’Gara said on Virgin Media One.
“The point I keep coming back to about Zebo is that certain people score tries. He’s a try-scorer. Every time if you look over the years… He always scores tries.”
“It’s the same way you pay big money in soccer for strikers. Simon Zebo is a fella that gets you points on the board.”
“With Rob there you probably have Conway disappointed, Larmour disappointed, Joey Carbery, Will Addison… But Simon Zebo in my eyes is better than those options.”
Do you agree with O’Gara? Should Zebo be there?
