New signing.
After weeks of speculation, it was finally confirmed on Monday evening that former England captain Owen Farrell will be the latest superstar fly-half to move to the Top 14 with French giants Racing 92.
Farrell will link up with his new club at the end of the current season and follows in the footsteps of the likes of Johnny Sexton, Dan Carter, and Finn Russell in making Paris and Racing 92 his home.
But the deal looks set to come at a cost as Racing look to balance their books next season. They already have the likes of Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, France’s Gael Fickou and Cameron Woki, England youngster Henry Arundell and powerhouse Fijian centre Josua Tuisova on their books, and Farrell isn’t coming cheap.
They’ve also signed two French internationals ahead of next season in prop Demba Bamba and lock Romain Taofifenua, so will have to offload some talent with Midi Olympique reporting they will look to flog 12 players or more.
Among the players named in the report is Springbok prop Trevor Nyakane, whose three-year contract expires at the end of this season.
Nyakane joined from the Bulls back in 2021 and a return to his old club could be on the cards. No doubt a player of his quality will have plenty of suitors.
