The Rugby World Cup final takes place this Saturday and it will be the last time that All Blacks legends Richie McCaw and Dan Carter represent their country
Tributes have been pouring in from every angle for two of the games greatest and speaking on 2FM’s ‘Game On’ earlier this evening, O’Gara shared the sentiment as he expressed his admiration for the pair, McCaw in particular:
For them to do what they have been doing over a 10-12 year period is phenomenal, especially in that team.
I think by all accounts he [McCaw] is a very humble guy, very quiet and I think he just leads by example. I don’t think he speaks too frequently, but in terms of standards and preparation, that’s where he excels.
ROG then couldn’t resist recalling a game in which former Munster and Ireland number eight Denis Leamy gave McCaw a torrid time in Eden Park in 2006:
I played against him [McCaw] a lot and never got the better of him. We had them rattled plenty of times. I remember one game in particular Denis Leamy rag-dolled him in Eden Park on a number of occasions.
Good man Leamy.
