The build-up to this week’s second Test between the British and Lions and the Springboks has been a build-up like no other.
Following the tourists’ win last weekend to take a 1-0 series lead, Boks director of rugby tweeted a message of congratulations to the Lions and noted that there were “no excuses” from their side.
But things took a twist not long after as a suspicious Twitter account popped up with videos highlighting errors by officials on the day, with that Tweet subsequently retweeted by Erasmus, raising plenty of eyebrows.
Then came the simply sensational one-hour-long video on Thursday that left the rugby world stunned. But former World Referee of the Year Nigel Owens, who will be on commentary this evening with Sky Sports offering his specialist knowledge, has decided to have his say with a fantastic message ahead of the second Test.
“Even with all the pressures of test match rugby, we must not forget to enjoy the occasion & appreciate how much of a privilege and honour it is to be part of it,” Owens wrote on Instagram.
“Please remember rugby’s core value of respect, we all have a part to play in upholding it. Good luck all involved.”
You said it, Nigel. You said it.
