Munster close in on the signing of Irish-qualified centre

On the move.

Munster Rugby are reportedly closing in on the signing of an exciting young Irish centre ahead of next season.

The southern province look set to be extremely busy over the next few weeks and months as they continue the search for a head coach and forwards coach to replace Graham Rowntree and Andi Kyriacou respectively.

They are also looking to add some much-needed reinforcements to several areas, with squad depth being a real issue once again this season as injuries continue to pile up.

Deals are also reportedly close to being finalised for Leinster duo Michael Milne (loosehead prop) and Lee Barron (hooker) and there are also rumours brewing of a sensational swoop for Pieter-Steph du Toit.

And now RugbyPass claim they are back in for Leicester Tigers centre Dan Kelly, with a deal close for the Ireland-eligible centre.

Munster have been linked with Kelly in the past, who qualifies for Ireland through his Irish grandparents and has represented the U20s.

He has one cap for England, but that came against Canada in a summer friendly in 2021, making him eligible for Ireland again with players eligible to switch back if they haven’t played international rugby for at least three years.

His contract with the Tigers is up at the end of the season and it looks like the 23-year-old will be swapping the Premiership for the URC next season.
