Confronted.
Saracens number eight Billy Vunipola was confronted on the pitch by a Munster fan following his side’s 32-16 win over the southern province in the Champions Cup this afternoon.
Vunipola was booed as he entered the stadium and throughout the match following his decision to support Israel Folau’s homophobic outburst on social media that has resulted in Rugby Australia terminating his contract.
Some fans in attendance at the Ricoh also brought gay pride flags as a message to Vunipola, while a number of fans online are outraged at how the number eight was portrayed when he received his man of the match award – despite doubling down on his comments.
"I believe in what I believe in. There was no intention to hurt anyone."

Vunipola’s views do not preclude him from winning MOTM, he’s very good at rugby, but BT’s simpering obsequiousness to him is embarrassing

#SARvMUN @btsport making it sound like Billy Vunipola has had terrible week through some unavoidable undeserved misfortune is a bit coma inducing.

Turned it over as soon as Billy Vunipola was named MoM. Would rather not listen to a homophobe. Apparently he’s had “a tough week”. Yeah somehow I think others have it worse, especially considering he brought his “tough week” on himself #SARvMUN

“Vunipola, at the end of the week he’s had!” is the absolutely disgraceful reaction of the @btsportrugby commentator to that try. His “toughest week of his life”. Being a homophobe is apparently something that is forgiven by playing rugby now.

Vunipola charges off to do a lap of honour and a Munster fan runs onto the pitch to goad him.
No stewards stopped the supporter. Mad #championscup

Wonder what reception Billy Vunipola will get today after he was booed at Bristol last week #ChampionsCup pic.twitter.com/Yw6CIHYWwn
