The Lions tour of New Zealand is still several months away but that hasn’t stopped us from looking forward to it already.
Coming off the back of a massive series win over Australia, absolutely smashing the Wallabies in the final test, the Lions face the daunting task of trying to take down the back to back world champions New Zealand.
Who will make the squad come next summer however still remains the burning question. We won’t have to wait too long as the Lions he squad for the summer tour of New Zealand will be announced in just five months time.
April 19 will be the day the best rugby players across four nations discover if they’ve done enough to be selected by Warren Gatland.
That means they will have just six international matches after this weekend’s autumn Tests (seven for England) to prove their credentials, with Six Nations performances certain to prove decisive.
Gatland is expected to take around 35 players on the tour, with those chosen flying out to New Zealand after the Pro12 and Aviva Premiership finals on May 27.
The 2017 tour includes the usual three test matches along with some huge midweek games against the likes of the Crusaders, the Chiefs and the Maori All Blacks. You can view the full schedule here.
