Big calls.
It’s almost that time of year again with the 2025 Six Nations championship set to get underway this weekend and we simply cannot wait.
Defending champions Ireland open up their account with a mouther-watering clash against old rivals, England and it looks like interim head coach Simon Easterby is set to make some massive calls in his selection.
First up – the big one. According to Gerry Thornley in The Irish Times, it will be Leinster’s Sam Prendergast who gets the nod at fly-half, retaining the 10 jersey after overtaking Jack Crowley in the Autumn.
Elsewhere, Peter O’Mahony looks set to miss out on the matchday 23, with Dan Sheehan starting from the bench, despite scoring two tries on his return for Leinster over the weekend following a serious knee injury.
Garry Ringrose looks set to partner Bundee Aki in midfield, with Mack Hansen on the wing after serving his ban.
Here’s the expected 23.
IRELAND (possible) v England: Hugo Keenan (Leinster); Mack Hansen (Connacht), Garry Ringrose (Leinster), Bundee Aki (Connacht), James Lowe (Leinster); Sam Prendergast (Leinster), Jamison Gibson-Park (Leinster); Andrew Porter (Leinster), Rónan Kelleher (Leinster), Finlay Bealham (Connacht); James Ryan (Leinster), Tadhg Beirne (Munster); Ryan Baird (Leinster), Josh van der Flier (Leinster), Caelan Doris (Leinster).
