Leinster are reportedly close to confirming the signing of Wallabies international Scott Fardy on a two-year deal.
The 32-year-old says he will link up with the eastern province following the completion of the 2017 Super Rugby season with his current club, the Brumbies.
The move was first reported by the Canberra Times, with sources from The42 confirming that a deal is close and should be announced in the coming days. Fardy has played the majority of his professional career as a blindside flanker, but first broke through the ranks at the Brumbies as a second-row.
Leinster have apparently been granted IRFU permission to sign an overseas lock and have recruited Fardy to play exclusively in the second row.
“It’s still a big year ahead at the Brumbies and I’m looking forward to the season ahead in Canberra,” Fardy told the Canberra Times.
“I’m also excited about the chance to join Leinster next season. But I’ve got a lot that I want to achieve at the Brumbies and it should be a great year with the boys.”
