Leinster international agrees deal to join French giants at the end of the season
On the move.
Rabah Slimani’s time with Leinster is set to come to an end this summer, with the veteran prop returning to France after a two-season stint in Dublin.
The 36-year-old joined the province ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and quickly proved his worth, becoming a trusted figure in Leinster’s rotation at tighthead.
Across his spell, Slimani offered experience and stability during international windows, often stepping in when the likes of Tadhg Furlong were unavailable.
Now, with his contract expiring at the end of the current season, his next move has been confirmed — a return to the Top 14 with Toulon on a one-year deal.
Slimani’s impact at Leinster has been quietly significant. He featured heavily in his first season, making over 20 appearances as the province secured URC success, and remained a dependable option this year despite more limited game time.
Leinster were understood to be open to extending his stay, but interest from France — and the opportunity to return home — ultimately proved decisive.
For Toulon, it’s a signing that adds depth and know-how to an already competitive front row, while also giving Slimani the chance to prolong his career at the highest level and potentially push for one final involvement with France ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
For Leinster, it marks the end of another short-term overseas signing that did precisely what it was meant to do.
Slimani may not have been in Dublin long, but across two seasons, he leaves having played his part — a reliable, experienced presence who stepped in when it mattered most.
