“I know you hate me.”
Ireland capped off a near perfect season this morning with a first series win over the Wallabies in over forty years, thanks to a 20-16 win at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney.
A try from CJ Stander, along with the boot of Johnny Sexton, proved to be enough as Ireland just about edge it in the end. But deservedly so all things considered.
It was a bruising encounter with Australia and Ireland losing captains Michael Hooper and Peter O’Mahony early on. The latter going off as a result of a controversial mid-air collision with Israel Folau.
Initally referee Pascal Gauzere was happy with the contest, but a fiery exchange with Johnny Sexton when O’Mahony was being treated, resulted in him going to the TMO and yellow carding Folau.
“I know you hate me, but i”m the captain now – you have to talk to me.” Sexton said.
Sexton once again proving he has what it takes to be an excellent captain.
