Georgia have long been touted as possible Six Nations participants.
They have dominated the Rugby Europe Championship, the Six Nations B competition in recent years, winning it for six successive seasons. They also recently overtook Italy in the World Rankings, moving up to 12th- two places above the Azzurri.

Gavin Mortimer has also revealed that Rugby Europe chief Octavian Morariu is set to demand that the Rugby Europe Championship winners take on the Six Nations wooden spooners in a relegation/promotion play-off.
