Selected.
The IRFU have confirmed Munster lock Jean Kleyn is eligible for all four of Ireland’s warm-up games after being named in a 44-man training squad today ahead of the World Cup in Japan.
Kleyn is one of two uncapped players in the squad with Munster teammate Mike Haley also earning a first ever call-up. English-born Haley qualifies through a grandparent.
South African-born Kleyn meanwhile is a project player who will have served his three years by August 8, making him free and clear to play in Ireland’s first warm-up fixture against Italy on August 10.
As things stand James Ryan, Iain Henderson, Tadhg Beirne and Devin Toner are expected to be Ireland’s four locks for the World Cup. But should any of them miss out through injury, Kleyn could very well be next in line for a World Cup space if he impresses during the warm-ups.
Further clarification from the IRFU that it was the 8th of August, which means he's still available to play all four games
