Good news, everyone.
Ireland boss Andy Farrell has revealed that he expects both Dan Sheehan and Ronan Kelleher to be fit in time for the Rugby World Cup ahead of his 33-man squad announcement on Monday.
Both hookers are currently sidelined, with Sheehan forced off in the win over England on Saturday after he “lost power in his foot” in the first half, but it looks like the Leinster man is on track to play a full part in France for rugby’s premier event.
Speaking following his team announcement for Saturday’s final warm-up game against Samoa, Farrell said he ‘expects’ Sheehan to be fit in time for the World Cup.
“He’s good, yeah, he’s got a sprain in his foot, in a ligament in his foot,” Farrell said.
“We’ll see how he progresses over the coming weeks but, as I said, with all injuries you see how they develop over the period of time, don’t you, but we expect him to be fit for the World Cup.”
Kelleher, meanwhile, who hasn’t played since Leinster’s Champions Cup final defeat to La Rochelle, is also expected to be ready to go as he recovers from a hamstring problem.
“As far as Rónan is concerned, he is doing great,” Farrell added.
“He is flying around the place at this moment in time – this week. If it was, at a push, for him – say a World Cup semi-final or final – we’re sure we could have got him over the line this week, but there’s no need to do that. He’s in good spirits.”
