Nonsense.
There has been a lot of talk surrounding Eben Etzebeth and his eye-gouging incident against Wales over the weekend.
The towering lock was shown a straight red for a clear and dangerous eye gouge on Wales flanker Alex Mann, with many calling for a hefty ban.
Even head coach Rassie Erasmus struggled to defend his player’s actions.
This is the previous scrap between Etzebeth and Mann which people are suggesting was a gouge by Mann? I'm not seeing it (no pun intended). pic.twitter.com/4jSC4Pg6no

But there seems to be an argument going around that Etzebeth himself was gouged before the incident in question.
Firstly, even if he was, it’s a terrible argument. A player of his experience should not retaliate in the way he did.
Secondly, the footage below clearly shows he wasn’t…
Way too much nonsense and still pictures out there about Etzebeth getting gouged too and drawing parallels.
If you think this is a gouge then you’d literally want your eyeballs examined.
What Etzebeth did was unwarranted and inexcusable and he deserves to get the max ban https://t.co/0uJLHEvRUF pic.twitter.com/EEFkiqjrjA
