Brian O’Driscoll – ‘Joey Carbery Has To Go To…’

Time to go.

Former Ireland and Leinster centre Brian O’Driscoll believes Joey Carbery ‘has to’ leave Leinster if he has international aspirations, and reckons he should sign for Munster.

The talented young fly-half is expected to make a decision on his future in the coming days, with a move to Munster or Ulster both an option. O’Driscoll feels Carbery would be an excellent fit at Munster, but if he decides to leave – it has to be a permanent deal and not just for one season.

He reckons Carbery cannot allow himself to end up in Joe Schmidt’s bad books, with the Ireland head coach clearly in favour of him moving in search of some serious game time at ten. Speaking Off The Ball O’Driscoll reckons Carbery simply ‘has to go.’

“The win is that if Joey Carbery plays really well and buys into Munster, and stays put and is a real find for them,” O’Driscoll said.

“I don’t know Joey Carbery particularly well but to go in against your will is a bad footing to start off with. If you’re not 100% dialled into being somewhere, you can’t play your best.”

“It’s a really tough play, I think we will get a decision imminently after the final because this can’t drag on, he has to call it one way or another.

“He has to go, he has to go,”

“If he has Irish aspirations and Joe Schmidt wants him to go…”
