Former Ireland, Lions and Leinster centre Brian O’Driscoll says Johnny Sexton is without doubt ‘one of the toughest’ players he’s ever had the pleasure of playing with.
O’Driscoll was speaking on BT Sport’s Rugby Tonight last night and was joined by another former Leinster, Lions and Ireland man in Jamie Heaslip. O’Driscoll says Sexton’s ‘willingness’ to put his body on the line for his team is what differentiates him from most other tens.
“He’s one of the toughest players I’ve ever played with.” O’Driscoll said.
“His willingness to take shots for the betterment of the team, and get on that line knowing that he’ll probably create opportunities off the back of it I think is what differentiates him from lots of other tens.”
Heaslip says it’s in Sexton’s nature – he’s an aggressive, attack minded ten, something he loves as a player.
“He’s an aggressive, attacking mindset ten… and I love that as a player.” Heaslip said.
“He will drag you kicking and screaming to a win.”
