Plastic.
Springboks hooker Bongi Mbonambi has mocked England in a new clip from the upcoming Chasing the Sun 2 documentary that chronicles their Rugby World Cup win in France last year.
The Boks defeated England in the semi-final of rugby’s showpiece event before going on to defeat old rivals New Zealand in the final to retain the Webb Ellis Cup.
That game featured the infamous Mbonambi and Curry incident, as well as plenty of examples of a recent infamous England trait with Borthwick’s side demonstrating some ‘over-enthusiasm’ when celebrating minor moments.
“After the knock-on they were celebrating. It’s plastic energy when you try to get energy by just shouting,” Mbonambi said.
“You just got a scrum – and then you have to scrum against us.”
Mbonambi and some of his front-row teammates can be seen laughing afterward when South Africa win a penalty against the head from the ensuing scrum.
Chasing the Sun 2 will be released on March 24.
