World champions South Africa are no longer the number one ranked team in the world following their second successive defeat to Australia on Saturday.
The Boks have struggled in the Rugby Championship following their 2-1 series win over the Lions last month and have dropped to second in the world with New Zealand now back on top for the first time since October 2019.
The All Blacks’ 36-13 win over Argentina at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane combined with South Africa’s 30-17 defeat to Australia resulted in a 2.37-point swing, enabling them to swap positions with the Springboks.
Meanwhile, Australia are up to third for the first time since June 2018 after completing those back-to-back wins against South Africa. With Australia moving up to third, England and Ireland have fallen to fourth and fifth respectively.
