A new favourite has emerged to captain the British and Irish Lions in South Africa next year with England skipper Owen Farrell knocked off the top spot.
Farrell has been the bookies’ favourite for a number of months now but his most recent disciplinary issues have altered the market, with the Saracens man receiving a five-game ban following a nasty high tackle on Wasps youngster Charlie Atkinson.
Veteran second-row Alun Wyn Jones has now been instilled as favourite for the prestigious role in South Africa next year with Farrell as far back as third choice with most bookies now.
England lock Maro Itoje is the second favourite with most bookies now with Ireland second-row James Ryan the outside shot at 7/1.

Betfair have Jones at 7/4, with Farrell at 3/1 and Maro Itoje at 7/2.
Sky Bet have Jones at 9/4, Itoje at 3/1 and Farrell at 7/2.
Boyle Sports have Jones 13/8, Itoje is second at 3/1, with Farrell at 4/1 and James Ryan at 7/1.
