Off nine.
Ireland made it back-to-back wins over Warren Gatland’s Wales today with a 19-10 win at the Aviva to go top of the World Rugby Rankings ahead of the World Cup in Japan later this month.
But it seems Gatland wasn’t too impressed with Ireland this afternoon, particularly in the second half. The Wales head coach has implied the Irish ‘didn’t want to play rugby’ in the second half, instead opting to “go back to what they’re really good at,”
Ireland scored two tries in the second-half to secure victory, and speaking to Channel 4 after the game, Gatland says it’s because “85 per cent of that second half [for Ireland] was just off nine, off nine,”
“Ireland went back to what they’re really good at,” Gatland told Channel 4.
“85 per cent of that second half was just off nine, off nine, off nine…and that difficult to stop that when they’re doing that.”
“I’m pleased with the first half, we tried to play some rugby.”
Sounds like someone is a bit salty.
