Worrying scenes.
Ireland made it back-to-back wins over Wales today leaving them in good stead overall heading into the World Cup after their worrying loss to England a few weeks back.
The win means Ireland will go number one in the world for the first time in history when the official rankings are released on Monday, with Rob Kearney, Tadhg Furlong and James Ryan all getting on the scoresheet with a 19-10 win.
But there were some worrying signs in the came when Keith Earls went off injured. The Munster winger was making his comeback after a frustrating few weeks out but it appears the injury isn’t as bad as initially feared.
The Limerick man was walking around after the game with his ice-pack removed and head coach Joe Schmidt reckons he will be good to go for Japan, scan pending. Fingers crossed.
“With Keith, we’ve just got to wait and see if it’s okay tomorrow,” said Schmidt.
“He potentially could have played on, he feels like he could have but there’s no way in a game like that you’d keep him on.
“It just seemed like his quad, whether it’s a whack in the quad or just above the knee. He was uncomfortable.”
