The Latest On Danny Cipriani’s Fitness Ahead Of Gloucester’s Clash With Munster

Every chance.

Gloucester outhalf Danny Cipriani could be set to make a surprise return against Munster in the Champions Cup on Friday night after recovering from a chest injury picked up against Exeter Chiefs last month.

The England international was expected to be unavailable for the crucial pool clash, but has made a rapid recovery and could be thrown straight back into action. Head coach Johan Ackermann has revealed is giving him every chance to make the crunch clash at Kingsholm on Friday.

“If you ask Danny, he is ready to go. That’s a good sign for us,” Ackermann told Sportsmail.

“Danny has a fitness test on Thursday, hopefully he comes through. Yesterday was a big marker because we had a semi-contact training. He did his own contact yesterday, too.”

“If the medical staff clear him then he’ll be up for selection. I will give him as much time as possible, as it has been a short turnaround from Leicester on Saturday, but will take guidance from the medical team.”

“I like it if players are as strong as they were before the injury.”

The game is a must win for both sides with every team in Pool 2 still in a position to qualify with two games to go. And Cipriani will be hoping he’ll be fit so he can make amends for the red card he picked up when the two teams met in Thomond Park.
