Yesterday was a very special day for Irish Rugby. They became Six Nations champions for the third time in five years, and the fourth time overall. They also claimed the title with a round to spare for the first time in their history.

Jacob Stockdale also broke a longstanding record for tries scored by an Irish player in a single championship, bagging another brace yesterday taking him up to six overall. He now tops the charts ahead of the likes of Brian O’Driscoll who was one of the joint leaders with 5.

Ireland also broke a team record yesterday, winning 11 games in-a-row for the first time. Their previous record stood at 11, but the win over Scotland saw them overtake it. They also stand to tie their record for consecutive games without defeat 12, if they can beat or draw with England at Twickenham next week.
