Man down.
Ireland are set to be without Munster centre Chris Farrell for the remainder of their Six Nations campaign.
The former Ulster and Grenoble back was Ireland’s star man, and was named man of the match in his Six Nations debut against Wales on Saturday. But he will now play no further part in the competition after injuring his knee in training today.
Irish Rugby issued the following update this evening:
Chris Farrell received treatment on the field earlier today after twisting his knee in the turf. He subsequently jogged on to re-join the rest of the playing group and felt well.
He was sent for a precautionary scan this afternoon which indicated some ligament damage had occurred and he will now see a specialist. Chris is unlikely to be available for the remainder of the 6 Nations.
Garry Ringrose is now in pole position to start alongside Bundee Aki for the Scotland game
