The kid.
Keith Earls is the talk of the town in Ireland these days. The Munster and Ireland winger is in the form of his life. And has stood out as one of the stars of the Six Nations so far.
After picking up a few niggling injuries at the start of the season, Earls has returned with a bang. He played a key role in Munster earning a home Champions Cup quarter final. And he’s arguably been Ireland’s best player over the first two rounds of the Six Nations.
While Earls is known more so for his incredible try-scoring record, he’s been adding plenty of other highlights to his reel in recent weeks. Whether it be superhuman jumping skills, or incredible try-saving tackles, the Moyross man seems to have it all.
Speaking to Brendan Fanning in The Irish Independent, Earls says no matter what he was going to make things difficult for Italy in relation to that, now famous tackle.
“Yeah, well no matter if I was going to catch him, I was going to chase hard to the corner to get the conversion out there,” Earls says.
“But thankfully he hit a bit of quicksand as well. That made two of us.”
And in terms of his incredible jumping ability, which was showcased in the France match with Sexton’s cross-field kick, Earls says he’s had plenty of practice.
“I had to jump a lot of walls to get over to my wife when I was young, so I’d put it down to that,” he says
“Jumping walls in Thomond Park, and running away from security guards. The lads were saying put Garda sirens behind me and I run quicker!”
