Leinster senior coach Stuart Lancaster has emerged as a firm favourite for Bristol’s Director of Rugby role.
Lancaster only joined Leinster in September but the Bristol Evening Post report that the former England head coach is now in pole position to take up the hot-seat with the Premiership strugglers.
Thee 47-year-old, who was in charge of the England team from 2012 to 2015, is only on a contract with Leinster until the end of this season and could well head up a revamped coaching structure with the English side, involving a chief operating officer and a head coach.
Bristol sacked boss Andy Robinson last month after a poor start to the season following a 31-13 loss to Sale. The newly-promoted side have collected losing bonus points against top-four sides Bath and Leicester since his exit.
Mark Tainton has impressed as acting head coach, having stepped up from kicking coach.
Is Lancaster the right man to lead Bristol? Would Leinster fans be sad to see him go?
