Gone.
Reports emerged yesterday that Felix Jones has walked out on England Rugby after less than a year after joining Steve Borthwick’s backroom team.
Jones arrived at England after helping lead South Africa to a second successive Rugby World Cup title, have also spent some time with his former club Munster before being recruited by Rassie Erasmus.
His decision to walk out suddenly has come as a huge shock to the rugby world but details are beginning to emerge as to why he has walked away so abruptly.
According to the Sunday Times, Jones is “unhappy with an unstable working environment” with England and Aled Walter’s decision to also leave suddenly and take up a role with Ireland is said to be a huge factor in his decision to leave.
Jones worked with Walter both at Munster and with South Africa. The former fullback is said to be on a 12-month notice period, making him unavailable for any new role for quite some time.
But when he does come back on the market there’s no doubt he’ll have a long list of suitors.
