Borderline.
Owen Farrell very nearly cost England a much needed win over South Africa this evening with a borderline tackle on replacement André Esterhuizen.
With the clock in red and England defending with everything they had to try and keep the Boks out, Farrell rushed off his line with a vicious tackle that went to the TMO.
On first glance it looked like the Saracens man was going to concede a penalty and give South Africa a chance at winning the game, with England leading by just a solitary point.
But referee Angus Gardner said there was enough evidence for him that he Farrell wrapped on the far side and that it was a fair tackle. Have a look below yourself. Was Farrell very lucky?
Fair tackle or was Farrell lucky to get away with this? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/0YPDyUo2ob
