Whoops.
Michael Cheika’s Wallabies got their Rugby Championship campaign back on track this morning with a 23-18 win over Rassie Erasmus’ Springboks in Brisbane.
Cheika has come under fire in recent weeks after two drubbings at the hands of the All Blacks, but he will no doubt be breathing a sigh of relief after this morning’s victory.
Captain Michael Hooper gave Australia the lead after just two minutes, before South Africa fought back with tries from Mbonambi and Mapimpi to take the lead.

But it was a costly error in the end that cost the Springboks the game. Mbonambi, who was a surprise starter ahead of Malcolm Marx, went from hero to villain, overthrowing his lineout and allowing Matt Toomua to score a ‘freak’ try of sorts.
It’s back to the drawing board for Rassie Erasmus, with the Sprinboks set to take on New Zealand in the next round.
