Last year’s Top 14 table-toppers La Rochelle absolutely smashed current champions Clermont yesterday with an incredible display that saw them run out 51-20 winners.
The surprise package from last season, set a marker down early with an sensational try in the opening minute from their 22.
Ryan Lamb combined to great effect with scrumhalf Alexi Bales, with Gabriel Lacroix getting on the end of it to give La Rochelle an early lead. It didn’t stop there, as they went in at half-time with a stunning 43-6 advantage.
Lacroix bagged a hat-trick but his first has to go down as the try of the weekend. Magical stuff.
