What a game.
Ireland made history again yesterday evening with a stunning victory over Australia in Dublin. Joe Schmidt’s men grabbed three tries in 27-24 win with Iain Henderson, Gary Ringrose and Keith Earls on getting on the scoresheet.
Schmidt had to reshuffle his back-line several times with Rob Kearney, Jared Payne and Andrew Trimble all going off injured, leave Ireland with a scrumhalf on the wing and an outhalf at fullback by the end of the game, making the win all the more impressive.
The strength in depth that now exists in Schmidt’s team was hugely evident as the bench was once again emptied as Ireland marched on to a famous victory in Dublin. They also become the first northern hemisphere team to complete a southern hemisphere grand slam since Martin Johnson’s World Cup winning England side in 2003.
What a year for Irish Rugby.
