“Scummy Irish”.
Ireland and England lock horns at Twickenham this weekend in a complete reverse of events from last year’s Six Nations championship.
The two sides met in the final round last year, with England having already won the Six Nations championship and chasing a second successive Grand Slam under Eddie Jones.
But Ireland spoiled the party in Dublin, handing Eddie Jones his first defeat as England boss. This year Ireland travel to take on England in Twickenham, with similar stakes on the line.
The championship is in the bag, but Joe Schmidt’s men will be hoping to go one better, and secure their first Grand Slam since 2009 in England’s backyard. They won’t need any motivation, but perhaps this video might spur them on even more.
Second Captains have uncovered a video of Jones speaking at a Fuso Talks event not long after losing to Ireland at Twickenham, where he labels the Irish as “scummy.”
“We’ve played 23 Tests and we’ve only lost one to the scummy Irish.” Jones said
“I’m still dirty about that game.”
“But we’ll get that back, don’t worry. We’ve got them next year at home. We’ll get them back. We’ll get them back.”
