WATCH: Classy John Muldoon Apologises To Leinster In Post-Match Interview

“It wasn’t meant in a bad way.”

Connacht gave club captain John Muldoon the perfect send-off in his final game for the western province this afternoon, as they demolished provincial rivals Leinster 47-10 at the Sportsground.

Muldoon is set to retire and take up a coaching position with Pat Lam’s Bristol next season, after playing over 300 games in an incredible career for the Westerners.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I expect it, 47-10, Jesus! I thought I was in dream land when we won the Pro 12, but this… It was some performance by the lads,” Muldoon told TG4 after the game.

Two tries each from Niyi Adeolokun and Kieran Marmion, along with one each for Ireland internationals Tiernan O’Halloran, Bundee Aki, and Muldoon himself, ensured a complete and utter rout in Galway.

To cap it all off – Muldoon converted his own kick, ensuring he ends his career with a 100% record from the tee! And in truly classy fashion, he even apologised to Leinster for the kick, insisting he meant no disrespect.

“On one more note, I apologise for taking the conversion, it wasn’t meant in a bad way.”

A class act, on and off the pitch. Fair play Mul. Connacht will never see the likes of you again.
