Israel Folau is set start on the wing for the Wallabies with Berrick Barnes at full-back in the first Test against the British and Irish Lions, according to reports in the Australian press.
Wallabies coach Robbie Deans will officially unveil his starting XV on Thursday but The Sydney Morning Herald has leaked a team that features Kurtley Beale on the bench, James O’Connor at fly-half and a fit-again Digby Ioane on the other wing.
Folau is set to be one of three Wallabies debutants – just five months after his first game in Rugby Union for the Waratahs – with Brumby Christian Lealiifano and Ben Mowen starting at inside centre and in the back-row respectively.
In the forwards, the Waratahs’ Kane Douglas looks set to partner James Horwill in the second-row.
Probable Wallabies XV: Berrick Barnes; Israel Folau, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Christian Lealiifano, Digby Ioane; James O’Connor, Will Genia, Wycliff Palu, Michael Hooper, Ben Mowen; Kane Douglas, James Horwill (captain); Ben Alexander, Stephen Moore, Benn Robinson.
Replacements: Saia Faingaa, James Slipper, Sekope Kepu, Rob Simmons, Liam Gill, Nick Phipps, Kurtley Beale, Pat McCabe.
