Dropping like flies.
Wales look set to be without Lions star Liam Williams for their Six Nations opener with Scotland next month. The Saracens utility back has aggravated a groin injury.
Head coach Warren Gatland says Williams is a “major doubt”, and joins a long list of Welsh players who are currently injured. Just yesterday is was reported that Dan Biggar will likely miss the opening three rounds.
Rhys Priestland has also been forced to pull out of the squad. Gatland has suggested his Six Nations starting ten will be Rhys Patchell or Gareth Anscombe as a result. He says Gloucester’s Owen Williams is “disadvantaged” by playing in England.
Lions captain Sam Warburton also remains sidelined, as does Bath’s Toby Faletau. Wales welcome Scotland to the Principality Stadium on February 3.
