A radical merger between the Ospreys and Scarlets looks set to happen as Welsh rugby bosses get set to hold a crunch meeting on Tuesday.

WalesOnline have been covering the story titled “Project Reset” for the last number of weeks, with the WRU looking to cut one of the current regions and form a new professional side in North Wales.

Ospreys have been the team most under threat and it looks like their future will be decided by tomorrow, with a merger between them and rivals Scarlets looking likely to happen at Tuesday’s critical Professional Rugby Board meeting.

The development comes after the board had requested the Ospreys and Scarlets consider a merger, a source told WalesOnline. It’s unclear when the merger will happen, but it could even be as early as next season.
