Under the knife.
Munster Rugby have issued an injury update following Saturday’s Guinness PRO14 semi-final defeat to provincial rivals Leinster at the RDS Arena in Dublin.
Jack O’Donoghue and JJ Hanrahan have both been assessed for first-half injuries that forced them to be replaced. O’Donoghue sustained a knee injury and will undergo a scan and see a knee specialist to determine the extent of the injury.
Head coach Johann van Graan said the flanker’s injury looked “serious” following Saturday’s game.
“That seems pretty serious,” van Graan said after the game.
“Look, he was just sitting there in the changing room in a lot of pain. I think we’ll take some time, I’ll know more in the week.”
JJ Hanrahan was replaced at half-time in the same due to a hip pointer injury and is expected to make a full recovery.
South Africa lock Jean Kleyn will use the off-season to undergo a required ankle procedure and will follow his rehabilitation programme over the pre-season period.
Similarly, Rhys Marshall will use the off-season to undergo surgery on an AC joint injury.
