Montpellier are set to up the ante in their efforts to sign All Blacks playmaker, Aaron Cruden.
French rugby newspaper Midi Olympique are today reporting that the the big spending French club have been given the go ahead to splash the cash on the 27-year-old.
The contract in the table is set to be a blockbuster €1m a year plus bonuses. An offer is said to be ‘imminent’ with Cruden and his representatives keen on a move with Beauden Barrett taking his place in the All Blacks starting line-up.
A member of New Zealand’s 2011 World Cup-winning squad, he has one year left on his current contract with New Zealand Rugby. Should Cruden make the move he will link up with fellow kiwi, Vern Cotter who is set to replace head coach Jake White at the end of the season.
