Munster will be doing well if they can hold onto Rassie Erasmus judging by these latest reports.
South African duo Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber have been a revelation at Munster this season. The formidable pairing have restored glory to the famous red jersey, leading them to the top of their Champions Cup pool and the PRO12.
Erasmus has been praised for work at the province, while Nienaber has transformed their defence into the best in the league. The southern province earned a home quarter final with their win over Racing 92 on Saturday, and there’s real belied that the duo can bring some silverware to Limerick this season.
The problem however, just like their players with Joe Schmidt, is their performances haven’t gone unnoticed. It’s well documented that the duo are wanted by the South African national team, and it looks like they’re about to step up their efforts.
Netwerk 24 is reporting that the SARU is willing to buy both men out of their current Munster contracts and offer them five-year deals to take over the Springboks. Erasmus could be in line to earn 36 million Rand [€2.5m] over five years. Will the duo be able to resist?
