Munster’s Director of Rugby Rassies Erasmus has confirmed they are close to sealing a deal with Grenoble’s Chris Farrell.
The 23 year old, former Ulster centre, is believed to have agreed terms with the IRFU and Munster, with a formal announcement to be made soon. The 6’5″ centre, who is currently coached by Irish duo Bernard Jackman and Mike Prendergast has attracted interest from from several English Premiership and Top 14 sides.
“Yeah, we’ve definitely discussed a lot of things with him,” said Erasmus.
“Not everything has been sorted out yet, but he’s definitely one of the players on our radar.”
The bad news however is that Erasmus also confirmed that Jaco Taute’s time will end with Munster after Christmas and that no application has been made to bring him back after his contract with the Stormers ends.
No (we have not applied for his return). He is going back. He is still contracted with the Stormers so we only have him until 31 December. He was only here while Francis was injured, so he is going back,” said Erasmus.
Francis Saili’s situations with the province remains unknown, with the New Zealand centre’s contract up at the end of the season.
