A worrying few days ahead for Jack McGrath.
Warren Gatland may have had a smile on his face after seeing a Welsh side advance to the Guinness PRO12 final last night as Scarlets beat Leinster, but he’s gonna have some serious concerns about Lions his front-row over the next few days.
Jack McGrath last just eight minutes of Leinster’s 27-15 defeat and head coach Leo Cullen’s post-match update would hardly fill you with confidence.
“Jack got a whack on his arm so we’ll see how he is. He may need to get an x-ray but again, we’ll see how he settles down.” Cullen said.
When asked about his chances of making the Lions tour, Cullen once again didn’t give the most reassuring of answers.
“He has an ice pack on his arm [right now]. He just lost a bit of power there so we’ll see how he is.”
The good news however is Tadhg Furlong’s issue wasn’t serious.
“Tadhg was just cramp on 60 minutes,” Cullen said.
A nervous few days for the Lions camp. McGrath has been one of the most consistent looseheads in Europe for the last number of years and to lose his spot on tour would be devastating. His likely replacement would be teammate Cian Healy. A man who knows all about having your Lions tour taken away from you.
