Highest paid.
Player agency Esportif have once again released some excellent data on the highest paid players based on positions across Europe’s three major competitions.
Not surprisingly outhalves are the highest paid players in the PRO14, Gallagher Premiership and Top 14, with the likes of Johnny Sexton, Dan Biggar and Aaron Cruden leading the way in their respective leagues.
The next highest paid are fullbacks, followed by second-rows and then tighthead props. The lowest paid position across the three leagues combined interestingly is hooker.

But it’s when you look at the leagues separately that things get interesting. Outside centres for example are the third highest paid in France, whereas they’re way down the pecking order in the Premiership and PRO14.
Tightheads can also earn more money in France than any other country, whereas second-rows are better off heading to the PRO14 if they want maximum value for their position. Some really fascinating stats. Excellent work by Esportif once again.
