Stade Francais captain Sergio Parisse has issued a defiant response to the proposed merger of his club with rivals Racing 92.
The shocking news was revealed earlier this week with the Stade Francais players brought into a meeting that day to be told the incredible news that their club would cease to exist as of next season.
Since then the players have unanimously voted to go on strike, refusing to train or play their scheduled match with Castres this weekend. In a meeting held yesterday with the respective clubs presidents they stated that the only way to stop the strike is to stop the merger.
Stade Francais captain Sergio Parisse has now taken to Twitter to issue his response to the proposed merger and he remains defiant with the rest of his teammates.
“As captain of Stade Francais, I learned of the death of my club by … Twitter! We will not let go … I assure you #ourclub.”
En tant que capitaine du @SFParisRugby , j’ai appris de la mort de mon club par…twitter! On va rien lâcher…je vous assure! 💪🏼🌺 #notreclub
