Exit door?
Former Munster and Ireland fullback Simon Zebo could be set to leave Racing 92 with Midi Olympique reporting the French giants are already courting his possible replacement.
According to the leading French newspaper, Racing are currently in negotiations with Argentinian fullback Emiliano Boffelli, the 28 times capped Puma who was named World Rugby’s Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2017.
Zebo is yet to feature this season as he recovers from a foot injury but is close to a return. He is currently in the final year of his contract with the Parisian side and was recently asked about his future by BT Sport’s Craig Doyle but remained coy.
“I love playing with Racing 92,” he said.
“We’ve got some great players who are playing at the top of their game, so it’s a very exciting team to be a part of at the moment.
“I’m just going to try and focus on getting healthy and getting back on to the pitch and let the rugby take care of itself for the first half of the season and we’ll see what happens after that.”
The Corkman has been linked with a move to the MLR in the past but he’s still on 30 and will no doubt feel he still has a lot to offer at the highest level.
Despite recently signing former Saracens fullback Matt Gallagher and having Mike Haley and Shane Daly on their books, Zebo would no doubt be welcome back at Munster if both parties could agree on a deal.
Having Zebo back at Munster would be a huge boost to the southern province as well as Ireland boss Andy Farrell who would once again be able to call upon the 35-times capped international.
The door’s unlocked Simon. We’ll put the kettle on.
