- Australia fly-half Bernard Foley scored the first try when he broke through the England defence on 20 minutes
- Foley again breached the try line in the first half after a neat interchange with early replacement Kurtley Beale
- The fly-half converted both tries and kicked a penalty as Australia held a 17-3 lead at the halfway stage
