Ireland captain Rory Best says not being selected originally to go on the 2013 British & Irish Lions tour was one of the lowest points of his career.
The Ulster hooker says he was devastated not to be named in the original squad. Best was eventually called up to the squad in place of the suspended Dylan Hartley, but did not make any of the matchday squads for the three Tests against Australia.
Best is hoping that he can make up for it by being selected in the 2017 squad to tour New Zealand.
“It’s a hard one to talk about because it was so disappointing four years ago, everything about it.”
“Obviously you want to rectify that,”
Best was also asked as Irish captain which Ireland player he would love to see given a chance in New Zealand.”
“I think for me it would be nice to see somebody like Henderson.”
“The way he played in that England game, how he ran the lineout, how composed he is, his versatility- and for me with the amount of work he does.”
